Meet Vivek
I’m Vivek.
I work in the environmental science business. I read a lot. My work takes me across places and people, and I am naturally curious about what I see, read, and experience.
I bought this domain in January 2020, just before COVID. During the lock-down, I began writing regularly. Later, as work and personal momentum picked up, posting slipped. The thinking never stopped. The drafts did not stop either. They lived quietly in evernote/onenote app instead of being published here on viveknotes.
As 2026 begins, I am restarting this with more intent. I want to write regularly, think in public, and use this space as a personal thinking dashboard that is open to dialogue, critique, and disagreement.

2 sides of same coin
I read to learn, argue, think, and then decide to agree or not. Many essays/notes here are responses to books or articles — what works, what doesn’t, and what feels incomplete. The goal isn’t volume. It’s integration.
Most ideas feel clear and convincing while they stay in your head. Writing is where that illusion breaks. Once an idea is written down, gaps appear, assumptions show themselves, and confidence gets tested. What survives that process is usually worth keeping
These essays come from my reading and experiences. Some views here will evolve, and some may even contradict earlier ones. That is part of the process.
A Bit more about me
I enjoy working where data is incomplete, and the situation is ambiguous. I like fixing and recalibrating business situations I tend to learn by going deep. That bias shows up in how I work, how I read, and how I write here.
I currently lead a business in Indonesia in environmental science and public health. Earlier, I worked across India and Southeast Asia, mostly close to decisions, customers, and execution, where decisions are made with uncertainty rather than complete information
